Magpie People are working with a specialist Manufacturing company based in Sheffield who are looking to recruit an experienced Metallurgist. My client are a market leading company supplying into a range of sectors including Aerospace, Nuclear, Power Generation and Oil and Gas, and work with a wide range of materials including nickel alloys

Main Duties of the role

• Prepare documents for customer approval (methods of manufacture, quality plans etc)
• Design / Prepare production routes
• Witness, monitor and proactively advise on hot material conversion both on site and at external sub-contractors
• Customer liaison including attendance at meetings both internal and external
• Review of nuclear specifications
• Liaise with internal departments regarding any technical / processing requirements for customer orders
• Basic estimating / re-estimating where necessary
• Review of nuclear test results and test house reports

You should have

• A strong Metallurgical background qualified to Degree level in Material Science or Metallurgy
• An background working with a wide range of nickel alloys, supplying into a range of sectors including Aerospace, Power Generation and Nuclear
• Knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing
• Previous experience of working in a ‘hot work’ environment, including Forging process
• Awareness of NDT techniques
